Under the theme of “The Big Catch Up”, the World Health Organisation (WHO) is working with partners to accelerate rapid progress in countries to get back on track and to ensure more people, particularly children, are protected from preventable disease.
This is a timely and relevant reminder for the Gold Coast. In late 2022 Gold Coast immunisation data indicated that coverage rates for fully vaccinated children aged five years and under in the one-, two- and five-year-old age cohorts are below the national target of 95%. This target is required to achieve “herd immunity”, which is necessary to minimise the impact of vaccine-preventable diseases on children in our communities.
GCPHN has developed a Childhood Vaccination Quality Improvement Toolkit to help your practice implement a childhood vaccination QI activity. The toolkit can guide you through the steps of the QI process and assist you in identifying children who are overdue for vaccination.
