The Remote Vocational Training Scheme (RVTS) is calling for applications for doctors in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services to undertake vocational training.
RVTS’ AMS Stream has an intake of 10 doctors annually who train towards fellowship qualifications of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and/or Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
Some of the AMS Stream positions have already been filled while those currently vacant will commence in August 2019.
RVTS’ three to four-year program allows doctors to access training while they continue to provide general medical services to their communities, bringing benefits to both the doctors and community.
RVTS has two streams of trainees – the Remote Stream, for doctors working in remote and rural Australia, and the AMS Stream, providing support specifically for doctors in Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) and certain eligible State and Territory health services.
The training is fully supported and includes webinars, education workshops, remote supervision and individualised training advice.
