This campaign has been designed to create community awareness about when people should be presenting to an emergency department and when they should consider other options.
Emergency departments are as their name suggests, for those patients that need urgent medical care. Because hospitals have to prioritise patients in order of highest need, patients with minor ailments could end up waiting a long time for treatment.
There are a range of other options including seeing a GP or using an after-hours medical service such as an extended hours GP clinic or contacting a home visiting doctor if required. If you need medical assistance for non-life-threatening conditions, you can find out more when you visit: www.healthemergencyoptions.com.au and make the right choice for medical care.
The opportunity to feedback about how you currently use and understand our HealthyGC website is still available, with our brief four-minute survey being open until the end of this week. Your valuable feedback will help us to develop the features that are important for your continued use.
With World Asthma Day being held last week and World No Tobacco Day being held on 31st May, it is timely to remind you that the My health for life program is available to eligible people who want to improve their health and reduce their risk of developing chronic disease.
Visit the My health for life website to do an online health check and see if you are eligible to participate in a program. My health for life can provide personalised programs and activities to help you to get your health on track and is delivered by qualified health professionals.
