Ovarian Cancer awareness month is held each year in February to educate Australians and raise awareness of the signs and symptoms, highlight the risk factors, inform about ovarian cancer diagnosis and treatment and to share the stories of real women affected by the disease.
Did you know each day in Australia, four women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer and three will die from the disease?
In Australia, the overall five-year survival rate for women diagnosed with ovarian cancer is 46%. In comparison, the overall five-year survival rate for women diagnosed with breast cancer is 91%.
The Ovarian Cancer National Action Plan (NAP) 2020-2025sets out a roadmap to reduce the incidence, increase the survival rate and improve the quality of life of people diagnosed with ovarian cancer in Australia.
Ovarian Cancer Australia has a quarterly newsletter for health professionals, to help remain up to date with research and supports being offered to women with ovarian cancer, their families and friends. To register for the online newsletter, email the support team on support@ovariancancer.net.au.
