Below are some recent updates in the area of digital health for general practice, including telehealth, clearing up HPP vs NPP confusion and tips on digital self-defence.
Electronic Prescribing (Token model) has now been enabled in general practices using either Medical Director or Best Practice software.
Checklist for enablement: General Practice Checklist. Please ensure you communicate with your neighbouring pharmacies prior to your commencement of Electronic Prescribing, so they are aware they may receive a Token script.
A reminder that consumers may still prefer to have paper prescriptions, however, please ensure if providing a Token based prescription, that they are aware of the steps involved for dispensing. More information for prescribers can be found here.

1. Build security awareness with the Digital Health Security Awareness eLearning course
2. Keep your software up to date
3. Use strong passwords and implement multi-factor authentication
4. Back up your data regularly
5. Do not respond to unsolicited phishing emails, texts and calls
6. If you fall victim to ransomware, avoid paying the ransom
