Queensland Health is contacting women who have received an Essure device, from Queensland Health, to make them aware the product has been recalled in Australia, and the issues relating to the product.
Essure is an implanted device that provides permanent contraception for women.
Women who have experienced side effects or complications from an Essure device are being advised to undergo a medical review at their local hospital or, alternatively visit their GP.
Queensland Health has developed a website dedicated to women seeking more information about complications caused by Essure devices at www.health.qld.gov.au/essure.
