Gold Coast Primary Health Network in partnership with National Asthma Council Australia invites Gold Coast general practitioners and practice nurses to participate in a Spirometry Training Course.

The Spirometry Training Course provides comprehensive training in the application, measurement and interpretation of expiratory spirometry in general practice. The six-hour interactive workshop includes a practical, hands-on component to allow participants to apply their new knowledge in a practical setting.

Learning Outcomes

1. Identify the clinical indications where spirometry is recommended.
2. Demonstrate the ability to correctly perform a spirometry test, using role play and peer review.
3. Interpret spirometry results to differentiate between respiratory conditions, such as asthma and COPD.
4. Assess your own practice quality assurance procedures for spirometry.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own spirometers to use during the practical sessions.

Places are strictly limited, early registration is encouraged. Allocation of places will be monitored to ensure as many practices as possible have the opportunity to attend.

Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP): Allocated 40 Category 1 points in the QI&CPD Program for the 2020-2022 triennium.

Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM): Accredited by ACRRM as an educational event for 30 PRDP points.

Completion of this educational activity entitles eligible participants to claim up to 6 CPD hours.
