Gradual improvements are being made and the number of GPs using the referral templates for their GCH referrals to specialists or to the Outpatients Department for specialist opinion and management has improved substantially.
Currently, our clinicians are noticing many of these electronically sent referrals are up to 100 pages long with investigations included that are many years old. This can slow down the triage process and delay patients access to care.
Please note that all old non-relevant investigations must be unticked. Please only include the few investigations that are either mandatory or relevant to the problem that you are referring your patient in for.
