Hi, all,
The current level of COVID-19 transmission is seeing increasing pressure across the board and means that effective 1 August, Queensland Health facilities suspended scheduling of routine non-urgent Category 3 outpatient appointments. Please advise newly referred category 3 patients of lengthy delays with expectation that they remain under the care of their GP, whilst awaiting an appointment with Queensland Health. If you require further advice from a consultant to assist you in the management of these patients, please contact the GP Advice Line on 1300 00 4242.
The WHO declaration also led the Australian CMO to declare monkeypox a Communicable Disease Incident of National Significance. Please ensure you’re subscribed to GCPHN GP and Practice News for health alerts and bookmark GCPHN news updates regularly for advice regarding monkeypox, including testing.
A reminder that the GPGC website is now live and searchable for the public and healthcare professionals. The potential looming payroll tax issues for practices can be somewhat mitigated by doctor-specific advertising that is independent of the practice. The GPGC website can serve this purpose. Additionally, all current members who may have signed up in a previous paper-based system must transfer themselves onto the website as privacy-wise we cannot do this from our previous member list. You can create a doctor profile under your control, thus achieving free advertising (which can be switched off if you’re not taking new patients). To maintain integrity the GPGC closed FB group is now limited only to members who have joined via the main website.
If you would like to discuss any issues, please contact us via admin@gpgc.com.au.
