NAIDOC Week celebrations are usually held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year NAIDOC Week is being held from 8-15 November with the theme Always Was Always Will Be.
The revised November dates for NAIDOC Week 2020 follow its postponement from the original July dates due to the impacts and uncertainty from the escalating Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The week is celebrated not just in our Indigenous communities but also in increasing number of government agencies, community organisations, local councils, workplaces, schools and sporting groups. Although there are not as many events this year there are still events happening on the Gold Coast and online that are a great opportunity to participate and support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. For more information on all NAIDOC events visit the NAIDOC Week website.
