Nurse sponsorships available for accredited nurse immuniser course

Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN) is currently seeking EOIs from general practice nurses to complete an accredited nurse immuniser course.

To practice as Immunisation Program Nurses in Queensland under the authorisation of the Health Drugs and Poisons Regulation 1996, nurses are required to have completed a course which meets the requirements of the National Immunisation Education Framework for Health Professionals (2017). GCPHN is seeking to sponsor ten general practice nurses to complete an accredited nurse immuniser course. The following organisations provide accredited nurse immuniser courses in Queensland:

• The Benchmarque Group
• Australian College of Nursing
• Australian Catholic University
• Queensland Health through The Cunningham Centre

What we offer

• Nurse sponsorships for 10 applicants to complete an accredited nurse immuniser course (up to the value of the preferred course enrolment fee to a maximum of $1300).
• 50% of the scholarship will be provided after proof of enrolment in the preferred course and the remaining 50% will be provided on proof of completion of the course with a copy of the certificate provided to GCPHN.
• Support to implement Immunisation Quality Improvement (QI) activities at your practice if required.

Expectations of successful applicants

• Enrol in an approved course and provide evidence of enrolment to GCPHN, within four weeks of scholarship approval.
• Complete an approved course within six months (recipients must ensure the course they select can be completed within this timeframe).
• Provide evidence of course completion to GCPHN.
• Sign a contract agreeing to the terms and conditions of the scholarship, including reimbursement to GCPHN of any funds provided to the applicant if course not completed.
• Lead QI activities to increase immunisation rates (with a focus on influenza immunisation in 2022) within their practice, including liaising with the GCPHN QI Project Officer for support.
• Complete an influenza immunisation QI activity in 2022 and provide a QI action plan on commencement and conclusion of QI activity to GCPHN.
• Provide immunisation related peer to peer support for general practices nurses new to vaccine
  administration.
• Work in a Gold Coast general practice/s for a minimum of three days per week.
• Complete a GCPHN survey on completion of the course that outlines the benefits and improvements this scholarship has provided for the applicant
