ReachOut, accessed by more than 2 million people in Australia each year, has trusted online self-help information, a peer-support program and referral tools for young people and their parents. Everything it creates is based on the latest evidence and is designed with experts, and young people or their parents.
Available 24/7 online, ReachOut’s dedicated resources give young people practical tips about looking after their wellbeing during the COVID-19 outbreak and ReachOut’s online youth forums continue to offer peer support in safe and established online communities. Young people are currently using this online space to connect and share stories about how they are feeling, share tips for staying well and support those struggling with their mental health at the current time.
ReachOut Parents has tips for parents about how to talk to their teenagers about COVID-19 and there is also online parents forums and one-on-one support for parents.
Australians are being told to stay home, physically distance and in some cases self-isolate. Some young Australians may also be feeling disconnected for their usual supports whether mental health professionals or friends. ReachOut’s peer support forums are a great way to maintain connection and get support at this time.
