The RACGP has released a draft of the Standards for general practice residential aged care (1st edition) (the Standards for GPRAC) for further consultation.
Initial feedback was sought from members and stakeholders in late 2019 and the comments received were received and incorporated (as appropriate) into the second draft. RACGP are now seeking further member and stakeholder feedback on the Standards for general practice residential aged care.
View the Standards for general practice residential aged care here.
The RACGP has developed the Standards for GPRAC to address the gaps between the Aged Care Quality Standards (1 July 2019) and the RACGP Standards for general practices (5th edition).
The Standards for GPRAC are voluntary and do not seek to replace existing requirements for accreditation against the Aged Care Quality Standards.
The Standards for GPRAC were developed specifically to improve patient care and address the barriers that GPs face when delivering such vital care in residential aged care facilities.
To ensure that the Standards for GPRAC are fit for purpose, we invite interested members, individuals and organisations to review the draft and provide further feedback.
The consultation phase commenced on Wednesday 6 May 2020 and will be ongoing, concluding once piloting has been undertaken, later in the year and subject to the COVID-19 recovery phase. We will advise stakeholders on this timeline as it evolves.
The draft Standards for general practice residential aged care (1st edition), are also available on the RACGP consultations webpage.
