Despite children aged 6 months to under 5 years being eligible for annual influenza vaccination under the National Immunisation Program and being more at risk of complications from influenza, there was a substantial decrease in influenza vaccination coverage among children during 2021.
One way to support increasing the uptake of the influenza vaccination amongst this cohort at your practice is to utilise Sharing Knowledge About Immunisation (SKAI) resources. SKAI is a suite of vaccination communication support tools. SKAI is designed to facilitate conversations about childhood immunisation between parents and healthcare providers. The package includes an eLearning module and website for healthcare workers, and an accessible information website for parents.
