This September 10th is World Suicide Prevention Day and the theme this year is ‘Working together to prevent suicide’.
‘Step Closer’ is a World Suicide Prevention Day film developed by the International Association for Suicide Prevention. The aim of the film is to raise awareness and to empower viewers towards collective action with the message that, through working together, we can all prevent suicide.
Every 40 seconds someone takes their life; that’s almost 800,000 people a year around the world with over 75% of suicides occurring in low-and-middle-income countries.
‘Step Closer’ reminds us that we all play a role in helping others and gives an opportunity to think about our connections, to empower discussions & reduce stigma.
Through working together, we could shift the balance and save lives.
