There is currently a high demand for the GCPHN Psychological Services Program so please consider the below criteria when referring patients, as only clients that fit within the eligibility of this program will be accepted at this high time of need.
Client has a non-acute, non-chronic, moderate mental health condition that can benefit from short term intervention.
People who after a suicide attempt or self-harm incident have been discharged into the care of a GP, or who have presented to a GP following an incident of self-harm, or have expressed strong suicidal ideation and who are not better supported by acute mental health services.
This program is not suitable for clients with long term chronic, complex mental health issues e.g. personality disorder, bi-polar, acute psychotic condition. Please consider the use of Better Access as a first line response where appropriate.
The GCPHN Psychological Services Program is not a crisis service. In an emergency always dial 000. If your patient requires support immediately you can consider:
Lifeline – 13 11 14
Beyond Blue – 1300 22 4636
Suicide Call back Service – 1300 659 467
Mental Health Acute Care Team – 1300 642 255
