A major review has been conducted by Queensland Health with the aim of future-proofing the Guidelines, giving careful consideration to the existing suite of Queensland Health PPE Guidance.
Current evidence, other State jurisdiction documents, Communicable Diseases Network Australia (CDNA) Series of National Guidelines (SoNGs), Infection Prevention and Control Expert Group (ICEG) guidelines and complementary guidance have been reviewed and incorporated. Sections have been restructured in line with the Australian Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Infection in Healthcare 2019.
Of significance, “P2/N95 Respirator” has been replaced throughout with the term “Particulate filter respirator”/”PFR” consistent with ICEG Guidance. Please carefully review the Version Summary on page 5 of the document for further details on the extensive changes, which may have impacts on the practice of the multidisciplinary teams within healthcare settings.
All changes are highlighted in yellow for ease of review.
