The GoldNet Research Network is pleased to invite you to our upcoming online collaborative journal club with The University of Queensland UQGP Research network.
Diabetes has been referred to as “the epidemic of the 21st century and the biggest challenge confronting Australia’s health system” (Diabetes Australia website, 2024). There are currently almost 1,3 Australians living with Type 2 diabetes, who face an elevated risk of cardiovascular and kidney disease, resulting in impaired quality of life and reduced life expectancy.
Guest panellists of this jointly hosted Journal Club will discuss findings from a recently published systematic review of over 800 randomised control trials, comparing the benefits and harms of various drug treatments for adults with type 2 diabetes. Of specific interest will be the potential benefits of adding finerenone and tirzepatide to previously existing treatment options.
