Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN) works closely with public, private and non-government organisations in the primary health care sector and across the acute care sector to improve the health and well-being of the Gold Coast. GCPHN is building ‘one world class health system’ for the Gold Coast’ and we know we can’t do it alone. To achieve this goal, we work closely with diverse groups, sharing knowledge and skills, working to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our primary care system, ensuring it meets local needs.
In 2015, Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN) established a Clinical Council to provide advice to the GCPHN Board on a range of clinical issues, including patient pathways and service/system improvements.
The Clinical Council plays a critical strategic role in assisting the GCPHN in a range of key areas including but not limited to:
Membership of the Clinical Council was determined via an expression of interest process, ensuring the representation of diverse expertise and experience across the Primary Care Sector.

The Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN) Community Advisory Council (CAC) is an influential body that ensures decisions, investments and innovations of GCPHN are appropriately person-centred, cost-effective, locally relevant and aligned to local care experiences and expectations.
Its membership reflects the broader Gold Coast community and includes people from different backgrounds, education levels, experiences and areas of the Gold Coast.
The advice from the CAC goes to the GCPHN Board and is viewed as influential in ensuring decisions, investments and innovations are appropriately patient-centred, cost effective, locally relevant and aligned to local care experiences and expectations.
Recruitment for the CAC occurs annually or when required by the GCPHN to maintain a true reflection of the Gold Coast community.
GCPHN have published an academic paper in the Australian Journal of Primary Health discussing the approach underpinning the Community Advisory Council “Not just tea and biscuits; the Gold Coast Primary Health Network process of designing, implementing and operating a Community Advisory Council”.
