Australian Management Guidelines for STIs in primary care
The Australasian Sexual Health Alliance has released for the first time, Australian Management Guidelines for STIs in primary care. The guidelines cover a range of topics including populations and situations for asymptomatic screening recommendations, syndromes for guidance about managing specific clinical scenarios and to STIs for specific management of a diagnosed infection.
STI/BBV testing tool for asymptomatic people
In the context of rising gonorrhoea and syphilis notifications, the Queensland Health sexually transmissible infection (STI) and blood borne virus (BBV) testing tool has been updated and is now available for use in primary care. The revision includes new recommendations for asymptomatic men who have sex with men, and other clinical feedback.

HIV Medicare ineligible people fact sheet update
Queensland Positive People have produced a fact sheet for Medicare Ineligible People accessing their HIV treatment and care in Queensland. The fact sheet explores avenues for obtaining HIV treatment for people without Australian Medicare Cards – such as accessing generic medicines online, compassionate access programs, or clinical trials (where available). The fact sheet also discusses Australia’s Reciprocal Healthcare Agreements, personal importation of medicines, and how to access HIV medical treatment and care within Queensland.
