This workshop is designed to help you understand the assessment, management and prevention strategies for common wound types including skin tears, pressure injuries, incontinence associated dermatitis, lower limb ulcers, surgical wound dehiscence, and cancerous wounds. In this workshop you will learn practical strategies to help you recognise the different wound types, select dressing products with more confidence, pick up useful hints and tips on how to document your assessment findings and treatment strategies, and learn when specialist advice should be sought.

Designed for nurses and allied health professionals from aged care in the Gold Coast region.

By participating in this workshop, attendees will:

• Have increased confidence and knowledge of strategies to assess, manage and prevent common wound problems
• Understand how to transfer wound theory into everyday clinical practice
• Enhance their knowledge of clinical documentation and understand how and when to refer patients.

• Dr Michelle Gibb – Director and Founder of Wound Specialist Services Pty Ltd
  Michelle is a nurse practitioner with extensive experience in wound management across the continuum of healthcare and is well known both nationally and internationally for her expertise in the field. With a Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Nursing Science (Nurse Practitioner), Masters of Wound Care, Bachelor of Nursing and more than 20 years’ career experience in the specialty of wounds.
• Sharon Whalley – Nurse Practitioner & Lymphoedema Therapist
  Sharon is a Nurse Practitioner and Lymphoedema Therapist (Level 1) with a passion for growing the next generation of health professionals. Sharon has a wealth of experience in a range of clinical areas, but her true passion lies in the specialty of wounds. Sharon is dedicated to improving outcomes for people with wounds.
