Join us for the fourth Professional Lecture of 2025, with Professor Liz Sturgiss.
The prevalence of obesity continues to rise. There is overwhelming evidence that obesity is a health condition that can be driven by biological, neurobiological and hormonal mechanisms. Best clinical practice for obesity management is also a rapidly changing area. The health system and practitioners are under pressure to provide more accessible, effective and better care for people living with obesity.
This lecture will explore the need for personalised management for obesity while also focusing on our obesogenic environment. Informed by critical realism, the lecture will unpack what works, for who, under what circumstances, and why in obesity management and prevention. Can obesity help us to better understand the overall limits of healthcare, health systems and clinical management into the future?
