Gold Coast Primary Health Network in partnership with Yelland Medical invites general practitioners and registered nurses working in general practice in the Gold Coast region to participate in a Wound Management Training Workshop.

Management of chronic wounds is one of the most common problems and procedures required of general practitioners and registered nurses working in general practice. This workshop provides the opportunity for multidisciplinary teams to come together and upskill in the management of chronic and complex wounds.  

In this advanced workshop, participants will learn practical strategies, collaborate with peers, and gain valuable insights to enhance their practice providing comprehensive and coordinated care for patients. 

Learning outcomes:

• Discuss the specialist services available to patients with chronic or complex wounds and identify how to refer patients
• Determine the aetiology of a chronic wound
• Determine most appropriate general practice management plan for a patient with a chronic or complex wound compromised by infection or oedema
• Select and implement the most appropriate, evidence-based management approach for patients with diabetic foot pathology including identifying the need for pressure off-loading
• Discuss arterial investigation options available to assist with the management of patients with Peripheral Arterial Disease within the general practice including Ankle Brachial Index monitoring.
