A new Medicare Mental Health Centre is coming to the Northern Gold Coast by 2026/27. This centre will be a welcoming place for anyone in the area who needs mental health support. Whether you’re in crisis or just need someone to talk to, you will be able to walk in without an appointment and get immediate help from mental health professionals or be connected to the support you need at no cost.
Anyone can access Medicare Mental Health Centres, even if you have never reached out for mental health support before. You don’t need a Medicare card to use these services.
The Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN) will play a key role initiating the new Medicare Mental Health Centre. Here’s how we will do it:
GCPHN will engage with the local community to understand the requirements for the centre, ensuring it is both accessible and effective.
GCPHN will commission a provider to deliver the services and co-design the local elements of the model based on the National Service Model for Medicare Mental Adult Mental Health Centres.
GCPHN will work closely with both the State and Commonwealth Governments to ensure the centre meets the needs of the community.
Register below if you would like to be part of the consultation and co-design process, you will be notified once relevant consultation and co-design sessions have been scheduled.
