EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI)

Gold Coast Primary Health Network in partnership with Benchmarque Group seeks your interest in a face-to-face workshop on Motivational Interviewing.

Motivational Interviewing establishes a supportive relationship between the healthcare professional and the client with the goal of helping the client develop a positive attitude towards change. In this way, the client feels empowered to take positive actions in addressing their own health outcomes.

Motivational interviewing is underpinned by a series of principles that emphasise a collaborative relationship in which the autonomy of the patient is respected and uses the patient’s intrinsic resources for change. The health professional adopts a non-confrontational approach to guide the patient toward change.

This practice can be helpful in a variety of healthcare applications including nutrition, exercise, vaccine hesitancy, medication adherence, prevention programs associated with chronic disease, pain management, mental health, substance abuse and settings where an inclusive approach is required for individuals at risk.

To register your interest in this workshop it is essential that you are:

• A primary care nurse or GP currently working in a general practice on the Gold Coast
• Able to complete a 90 minute eLearning module prior to the workshop
• Available to attend a full day face to face workshop on Tuesday 19 November 2024

Learning objectives:

• Explore how and why people change, and the role of motivational interviewing in facilitating behaviour change in the general practice setting.
• Develop fluency with the core principles and processes of Motivational Interviewing
• Develop and apply key interpersonal and communication skills that underpin Motivational Interviewing.
• Practical application of skills and knowledge – building specific practice exercises to recognise and respond to challenging healthcare clients in your setting.
• Understand the importance of self-care for those working in primary healthcare.

EOI submissions close Friday 28 February 2025. Following closure, Benchmarque Group will contact eligible participants to commence the formal registration process.
