The Comirnaty (Pfizer) COVID-19 vaccine has been proven to be safe for pregnant women and their babies.
Pregnant women have a higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19 and their babies have a higher risk of being born prematurely. Vaccination is the best way to reduce these risks.
The Comirnaty (Pfizer) COVID-19 vaccine is also safe for new and breastfeeding mums and their babies.
Studies have shown it is unlikely that any of the vaccine would be passed on to the baby through breastmilk, and if a small amount did, it is extremely unlikely to have any effect on your baby. Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself, loved ones and your community against COVID-19 and save lives.
Speak to your midwife or doctor about getting vaccinated at any stage of your pregnancy, if you are a new mum and have any concerns, or see the above options to register for an appointment.
Children aged 5 to 11 years can now receive their free COVID-19 vaccine. It’s the best way to protect them your family and community.
All vaccines are thoroughly tested before use and reduce a child’s chances of getting sick.
Talk to your GP pharmacist or healthcare professional if you have questions.
