While it may not be dominating the news headlines anymore, COVID-19 is still affecting people in our community. Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself, and others, against COIVD-19. All people aged 5 and over are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine on the Gold Coast. The COVID-19 vaccine is free for everyone in Australia.
Children aged between 6 months and five years with severe immunocompromise, disability, and those who have complex and/or multiple health conditions which increase the risk of severe COVID-19 can also receive COVID-19 vaccine.
Vaccinations are available from GPs and pharmacies. For those who have trouble leaving their home, arrangements can be made for you to be vaccinated at home.

The Comirnaty (Pfizer) COVID-19 vaccine has been proven to be safe for pregnant women and their babies.
Pregnant women have a higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19 and their babies have a higher risk of being born prematurely. Vaccination is the best way to reduce these risks.
The Comirnaty (Pfizer) COVID-19 vaccine is also safe for new and breastfeeding mums and their babies.
Studies have shown it is unlikely that any of the vaccine would be passed on to the baby through breastmilk, and if a small amount did, it is extremely unlikely to have any effect on your baby. Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself, loved ones and your community against COVID-19 and save lives.
Speak to your midwife or doctor about getting vaccinated at any stage of your pregnancy, if you are a new mum and have any concerns, or see the above options to register for an appointment.
Children aged 5 to 11 years can receive a free COVID-19 vaccine. It’s the best way to protect them your family and community.
All vaccines are thoroughly tested before use and reduce a child’s chances of getting sick.
Talk to your GP pharmacist or healthcare professional if you have questions.
Some children aged 6 months to 4 years who are severely immunocompromised, have disability, or have complex and/or multiple health conditions will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
