This introductory education session will delve into Trauma-Informed Practice (TIP) guided by content expert Rosie Gallagher, holding over 30 years as a mental health nurse with extensive experience in the UK and Australia. Gain insights into the pervasive nature of trauma and its impact on service providers and recipients during this brief introduction.
Explore the structured approach of TIP, marked by its holistic, collaborative, and reflective nature, with insights tailored by Rosie’s extensive background. Acquire foundational skills adaptable to diverse disaster recovery and crisis response where support is extended to others.
Following the introductory TIP segment, experience a separate session on sound therapy with Leith James, President of the Australian Sound Healers Association. Sound therapy is a holistic wellness practice that harnesses the power of sound vibrations to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and enhance mental well-being. Leith, a seasoned sound therapy practitioner with over 13 years of experience, specializes in empowering individuals to unlock their innate healing potential. With a strong foundation in science and spirituality, Leith’s sessions offer a unique opportunity for participants to experience the soothing and transformative effects of sound.
This introductory session offers a glimpse into transformative care through both TIP and sound therapy. Initiate your exploration of these topics, gaining skills that can extend into disaster recovery spaces, enhancing your capacity to support others in challenging environments.
Afternoon tea provided, kindly funded by Gold Coast Primary Health Network (please bring your own water bottle).
