Immunisations have a vital role in preventing the spread of infectious diseases and protecting individuals from serious health complications. It is important to maintain high levels of vaccination coverage in Australia to ensure herd immunity within populations and reduce the overall healthcare burden by preventing illnesses and outbreaks before they occur.

Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN) invite Gold Coast general practice nurses to an educational and networking session for the annual GCPHN Immunisation Update.

Topics include:

A recap of the Gold Coast Winter season, focusing on RSV and Influenza trends.
Practical tips for maximising the use of the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) including delegation access, AIR reports, overseas vaccinations, reporting for patients not enrolled in Medicare, update encounter functions and medical updates.
Insights into GCPHN’s innovative immunisation promotion initiatives.
Shared experiences from 2024 Nurse Immunisation Scholarship recipients.

Learning Outcomes:

Recognise the impact of vaccine preventable winter illnesses on the Gold Coast for the 2024 Winter Season.
Implement processes to utilise the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR), effectively to improve overall immunisation management practices.
Improved knowledge and understanding of GCPHN’s communisation strategies and initiatives for immunisations that have been implemented over the year.
Recognise the benefits of receiving an Immunisation Scholarship and the impact in the workplace of improving the capability of nurses working within primary care to administer immunisations to eligible persons.

CANCELLATIONS: Online registrations will be confirmed immediately in our booking system. This is our preferred method of RSVP. To cancel your RSVP please use the email link or call the GCPHN events team (PH. 07 5635 2455). In recent months a number of registrants to our events have failed to attend and have not provided cancellation advice. This often results in others, often on wait lists, being unable to attend. In addition, GCPHN resources are wasted as costs for catering and support staff are still incurred. Each event therefore incurs a cost per person ranging from $65 – $120. GCPHN wishes to continue to provide training and education at no cost to primary care providers, however for these reasons we may have to consider implementing fees to offset our costs in the future. Please ensure you provide at least 2 days’ notice if you need to cancel your registration
