The Let’s Talk Wounds series provides virtual, case-based learning opportunities for Aged Care Home and Community Nurses across the Gold Coast region. Held every second month, each session focuses on a specific wound care topic and encourages participants to:

• Share clinical experiences
• Ask questions in a supportive environment
• Build confidence in managing complex wound presentations

Open to all Aged Care Home and Community nurses within the Gold Coast PHN region.

Focus Topic: Skin Tears

In this session, we’ll cover:

• Risk factors contributing to skin tears
• Classifying skin tears using ISTAP and STAR tools
• Treatment approaches: cleansing, re-approximation, dressing selection and application
• Prevention strategies: skin hygiene, emollient use, protective clothing, environmental considerations, nutrition, and hydration
