Recommended audience: GPs and allied health professionals.
This presentation will explore the role of occupational and environmental physicians in helping to ensure a safe return to work for those who have suffered an injury. It will cover strategies that can be used by these physicians to optimize the process, such as assessing physical and mental health, determining necessary accommodations or modifications needed for job duties, providing advice on how best to manage stress levels during recovery, and ensuring adequate support from employers.
Additionally, this article will discuss how these strategies can help individuals get back into work more quickly while reducing long-term disability costs associated with prolonged absences from work. Finally, it will provide tips on what GPs, allied health and employers should consider when implementing return-to-work programs.
Presenter: Dr Christopher Cunneen OAM, Occupational & Environmental Physician
Aim: To provide viewers with an understanding of the importance of rehabilitation strategies and how occupational & environmental physicians can optimise the process so that injured workers can safely return to their jobs sooner rather than later.
