Elder abuse is very common with close to one in 7 older Australians experiencing some form of abuse, from emotional and financial to physical or neglect.
To assist in identifying and responding to abuse and violence towards older people, the Safer Families Centre have developed an e-learning module called: Six steps to Support you to Assess and Respond to Elder Abuse.
This module looks at the nature, severity, and impact of abuse of older people and explains how to recognise the risk factors, types and signs. It describes barriers and enablers for seeking help, and strategies to identify and safely respond to older patients experiencing abuse or violence. The e-learning module is fully funded for anyone working in primary care and has been accredited through the RACGP and ACRRM.
