The National Lung Cancer Screening Program, launched in July 2025, is a major national initiative designed to detect lung cancer earlier and improve outcomes for people at higher risk. As the leading cause of cancer death in Australia, improving participation in screening is critical to reducing lung cancer mortality.
Some communities may experience barriers to accessing screening due to stigma, cultural considerations, geographic location, disability, and other social factors.
