To strengthen vaccine delivery and improve visibility of people’s vaccination records in residential care, facility and clinical managers within RCFs can now apply on behalf of RCFs to become recognised vaccination providers with the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR). This will allow them to access the AIR to check residents’ vaccination status and report vaccinations. It does not authorise them to administer vaccines.
Key points:
RCFs using commercial vaccination providers, GP or pharmacists for in-reach services, that provider should use their own AIR provider number to report vaccinations. Alternatively, if the vaccinations have not been reported to the AIR and the RCF has vaccination evidence, they can report the missing vaccinations to the AIR.
RCFs with permanent staff authorised to administer vaccines can also apply directly to become recognised AIR vaccination providers.
