headspace Southport and Upper Coomera have recently welcomed a few new private practitioners to their team, including psychologists, an occupational therapist and accredited social workers.
These new additions allow headspace to provide bulk billed therapy sessions for young people aged 12 to 25 with a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).
The process for accessing these services is straightforward. Initially, the young person will have a Telehealth session with a mental health clinician. If they prefer to have an in-person session instead of the Telehealth session, they can simply let headspace know.
During the first session, headspace will focus on ensuring their service is the right fit for the person’s needs and helping them think through their therapy goals. If necessary, more in-person sessions can be provided until the young person feels confident about how they want to use their MHCP. After this initial assessment, they will be allocated to a private practitioner who best matches their needs.
