Call for Nominations:

General Practitioner representative on GCPHN Primary Health Care Improvement Committee. The purpose of the PHCIC is to provide the GCPHN direct access to a range of general practice and primary health care providers to provide advice on quality and operational activities in general practice and primary care. This remunerated position is an excellent opportunity for a General Practitioner to help develop and shape the delivery of health care on the Gold Coast.

Opportunity:

Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN) is currently seeking nominations to fill the following vacant position for the GCPHN Primary Health Care Improvement Committee (PHCIC):

• General Practitioner (currently working a minimum 3 days per week in general practice)

The deadline for application submission is COB Wednesday 24th of January 2024.

Background:

Primary Health Networks (PHNs) have been established with the key objectives of increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services for patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes, improving coordination of care to ensure patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time, and undertaking population health planning to identify and address local needs.

GCPHN’s strategic intent is: “Building one world class health system for the Gold Coast.”

The purpose of the PHCIC is to provide the GCPHN direct access to a range of general practice and primary health care providers to provide advice on quality and operational activities in general practice and primary care. Terms of Reference attached for reference.

The PHCIC meets bi-monthly, on a Thursday evening for two hours dependant on agenda, with most meetings occurring virtually via Microsoft Teams. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday 1 February 2024. Members of GCPHN PHCIC will be remunerated for attendance in line with GCPHN’s Sitting Fees:

Selection Criteria:

• Demonstrating the capability to offer insightful and prudent suggestions regarding quality and operational activities in primary care with a perspective of future opportunities and requirements.
• Be a team player who is currently employed in the relevant health sector.
• Ability to actively contribute and challenge in a group environment.
• Strategic thinker, visionary and can take a whole of system view.
• Balance the diverse needs of various professions and populations.
• Assess complex issues and provide advice on appropriate and effective strategies aimed at improving health outcomes of the local population.
• Promote best practice based on clinical evidence and in the context of finite health resources.

Application and Appointment Process:

A shortlist of candidates will be prepared from the applications received by the deadline. These candidates will be presented to the GCPHN Executive Leadership Team for final approval.
