Dinesh was the first quadriplegic medical intern in Queensland. Dinesh is a doctor, lawyer, disability advocate, and researcher. While in medical school, he was involved in a car accident that caused a spinal cord injury. Dinesh was born in Sri Lanka, moving to Australia at the age of ten during the civil war.
Dinesh works in the emergency department at the Gold Coast University Hospital. He is a researcher and senior lecturer at the Griffith University and assistant professor at Bond University. Dinesh is a researcher in spinal cord injury, co-leading the BioSpine research team.
He is a doctor for the Gold Coast Titans physical disability rugby team. Dinesh was a senior advisor to the Disability Royal Commission. He is an advisory board member to HealthyLife, a Woolworths company. Dinesh is a John Monash Scholar. He is an independent non-executive director of George Steuart & Co, one of the oldest companies in the world.
Dinesh was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 2019. He was the third Australian to be awarded a Henry Viscardi Achievement Award. He was the 2021 Griffith University Young Alumnus of the Year. Dinesh was the Queensland Australian of the Year for 2021. His autobiography, Stronger, was published by Pan Macmillan in 2022.
Ramya is a specialist General Practitoner, practice owner, medical educator, academic and experienced board director with a strong record of leadership, advocacy, medical education and governance across general practice.
Ramya’s career has been grounded in front-line clinical practice and shaped by a deep understanding of the challenges facing GPs, practice owners, doctors in training, supervisors, international medical graduates and the communities we serve. Through her leadership with RACGP and her academic role at the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle, she has worked to strengthen the profession, support the next generation of doctors and ensure general practice remains central to a high-quality, sustainable health system.
Above all, Ramya is committed to advancing general practice, strengthening the voice of GPs and ensuring the profession is respected, supported and equipped for the future.
Dr Singh is the National Chair RACGP Social Prescribing SIG, National Chair Primary Care ASPIRE (Australian Social Prescribing Institute of Research and Education), Board Director ASLM (Australasian Society of Lifestyle Medicine), Board Director EverybodyNow and GCCC 2032 Olympics and Paralympics Strategy Advisory Group Member.

CANCELLATIONS: Online registrations will be confirmed immediately in our booking system. This is our preferred method of RSVP. To cancel your RSVP please use the email link or call the GCPHN events team (PH. 07 5635 2455). In recent months a number of registrants to our events have failed to attend and have not provided cancellation advice. This often results in others, often on wait lists, being unable to attend. In addition, GCPHN resources are wasted as costs for catering and support staff are still incurred. Each event therefore incurs a cost per person ranging from $65 – $120. GCPHN wishes to continue to provide training and education at no cost to primary care providers, however for these reasons we may have to consider implementing fees to offset our costs in the future. Please ensure you provide at least 2 days’ notice if you need to cancel your registration
