Join experienced palliative care clinicians from PallConsult, Queensland Health and project leads Clinical Nurse Consultants Kelsey Schipp and Siobhan Byers from Residential Aged Care Acute Support Service (RaSS) to improve your clinical skills in providing palliative and end-of-life care for your patients.

This event is targeted for senior registered nurses, particularly those in supervisory or educational roles.

Workshop objectives:

A comprehensive understanding of how to develop management plans for End-of-Life care, including after-hours processes and resources that support residents health wishes.
Increased knowledge and confidence to lead a RACH team in
- Self-care and team care
- End-of-Life care framework and guidelines that inform clinical processes for care in the last 12 months of life
- Accessing and using digital tools such as the health provider portal and the palliMEDs app (Please bring your own device)
- Commencing the process for developing Advance care planning (ACP) for RACH residents entering the facility
- Understanding the role of a nurse when responding to distressing symptoms and recognising dying in the terminal phase (SPICT Tool).
