Gold Coast Health has launched DevPaed Connect, a Queensland first shared-care model designed to accelerate access to specialist support for children with developmental, learning or behavioural differences.
Developed by Senior Paediatrician Dr Angela Owens in collaboration with GCPHN and local GPs, the digital interface enables GPs to connect directly with developmental paediatric specialists via secure messaging or short consultations.
Across Australia, the number of children being identified with developmental or behavioural conditions is rising, yet many specialist waitlists stretch 12-18 months.
DevPaed Connect enables GPs to submit a secure clinical question through the platform and receive specialist advice within 1–2 business days.
The digital platform was co-designed with technology partner Foxo, ensuring secure digital interface between GPs and paediatricians.
More than 500 Gold Coast children are estimated to benefit from the new initiative in its first year.
