The Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) has released the new online Non-Emergency Patient Transport (NEPT) Request System to streamline and modernise requests for non-emergency patient transport from Queensland Health and private medical facilities. NEPT replaces paper-based Medically Authorised Ambulance Transport (MAAT) Forms, emails, faxes, and calls to 13 12 33.
Facilities can register by completing the Facility Access Request Form to receive login details. The nominated person will have facility administrator permissions and can set up access profiles for other staff as needed. Access to NEPT is via a secure URL, which can be saved as a browser favourite for easy access each time.
Staff managing transport requests should complete the online training package. A new feature of the NEPT system now requires authorising doctor details, including full name, email, and either provider or registration number. This change ensures compliance with the Ambulance Services Regulation 2015 and improves transparency and accountability, with a Referring Clinician fact sheet available for guidance.
