Upcoming changes to ADN Service from Northern NSW hospitals – what you need to know

We’d like to let you know about an upcoming change to the Admission/Discharge Notification (ADN) service in Northern NSW, effective from1 July 2025. While the change won’t require any action from your practice, we want to ensure you’re informed.

  • Automatic coverage for all patients
    Registration of patients will be no longer required – notifications will apply to all patients under your care
  • Refined hospital event criteria
    Notifications will be received for specific types of hospital admissions and discharges, including:

    • Unplanned admissions via ED or Outpatients
    • Mental health admissions and transfers
    • Discharges where patients may be at risk (e.g. left against medical advice, did not wait, deceased)
  • Improved message content
    Messages will provide more relevant and actionable information to help support timely follow-up, discharge planning and continuity of care.

Do I need to do anything?

No action is required. The updated service will be enabled automatically.
