Hi, I’m Jardin. I’m a father of two young children (aged 3 and 5) and work as a GP at Burleigh Heads. I’ve lived on the Gold Coast for most of my life and completed my undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Griffith University and Deakin University, respectively.
I also work part time role with Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN), where I provide GP-led strategic advice to the Senior Leadership Team as well as peer-to-peer advice to anyone that needs help. I also work as a local medical educator with RACGP and may have met some of our readers through teaching visits, registrar education or clinical work.
In 2015, the Australian Government set up 31 Primary Health Networks (PHN) to help doctors and local communities improve health services, especially for people at risk of poor health. The goal of each PHN is to make health care better coordinated and more accessible by commissioning services, providing practice support and building the capacity of our local health workforce. To achieve this, each PHNs need to work closely with the local community, and engagement with General Practice is fundamental to achieve these goals.
PHNs have faced some criticisms over the years, including local engagement and ensuring services meet the needs of practices. This is especially important as general practice continues to navigate a range of evolving challenges.
By improving relationships with general practices on the Gold Coast and considering your individual preferences, we hope that we can support you and coordinate tailored health services based on your local needs and focus on meaningful outcomes for your patients.
Be the change you wish to see and take the initiative to identify key issues in your practice by analysing your data and create a clear profile of your local issues. Work with your Project Officer at your practice to share your story, strategise and influence our team to provide additional services or funding to meet your specific goals. Please feel free to contact your Project Officer if you would like access to, or training on, Primary Sense.
