Gold Coast Health has launched DevPaed Connect, a new shared-care service linking local GPs with the Child Development Service (CDS). Designed with Gold Coast GPs, this initiative gives doctors rapid access to developmental paediatric advice—without needing a full referral—helping families receive timely, coordinated support.
GP-to-paediatrician service only – families do not attend sessions.
Through DevPaed Connect, GPs can:
Request written or phone advice – secure guidance for developmental or behavioural concerns, with a response within 1–2 business days
Book a virtual Multidisciplinary Case Conference (MDCC) – collaborate with a paediatrician + allied health for complex or “grey zone” cases
Importantly, the child does not need to already be known to the Child Development Service.
There is no cost to access DevPaed Connect, as it is part of the public health system, however patients must live within the Gold Coast Health catchment.
What’s in it for you?
Faster backup for families: Advice within days, not months
MBS remuneration: MDCCs may be eligible for Case Conference billing
CPD opportunities: MDCC participation can be self-claimed under Reviewing Performance
Confidence and support: Shared decision-making in “grey zone” cases
