Gold Coast Primary Health Network has launched its 2026–2029 Strategic Plan, aspiring to shape a more connected and equitable health system for the future.
Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN) has launched a new Strategic Plan 2026–2029, informed by genuine engagement and centred on strengthening primary care, innovation and collaboration.
The strategy provides a clear direction for how GCPHN will respond as the Gold Coast continues to grow and demand for health services increases, with a system shaping lens focused on improving health outcomes where community need is greatest.
“Our vision is simple: shaping better health outcomes for every person on the Gold Coast,” said GCPHN Chief Executive Officer, Angi Bissell.
“Achieving it requires us to look beyond individual programs and services. We must shape systems, strengthen primary care, back evidence, invest where community need is greatest, and bring people, providers and partners together around shared goals – this is exactly what this plan sets out to do.”
The strategy is guided by GCPHN’s values of Community First, Working Together, and Bold and Impactful, and focuses on four key areas:
GCPHN plays a unique role in the health system. While it doesn’t deliver healthcare directly, GCPHN brings people, evidence and partners together to understand local health needs, strengthen primary healthcare, improve access to care, and support better outcomes.
GCPHN Board Chair, Dr Ka-Kiu Cheung, said the strategy provides a roadmap for how GCPHN will continue to support a stronger health system locally, with partnership integral to its success.
“The Gold Coast region is growing and changing,” said Dr Cheung.
“Community need is becoming more complex, pressure across the health system continues to increase, and the ways people access care are evolving. No single organisation, service or profession can respond to these challenges alone.”
Dr Cheung added the words ‘every person’ have been included in GCPHN’s new vision for a reason, with equity integral to bringing the strategy to life to benefit Gold Coast residents.
“These words matter,” said Dr Cheung, “with equity at the centre of our decisions. This means listening carefully to people whose voices are not always heard, directing effort where need is greatest, and remaining accountable for the impact we achieve over the next three years.”
GCPHN’s new tagline Shaping healthier lives captures its ambition and role in helping create a healthier Gold Coast for tomorrow.
A refreshed brand has also been launched alongside the strategic plan. It pairs a more human, genuine, approachable and inclusive identity with a stronger connection to the Gold Coast community.
Looking ahead, GCPHN will continue working alongside general practice, primary care providers, community organisations, consumers, government and health partners to build a healthier, fairer and more connected Gold Coast health system.
