Cultural Safety Training has been provided to General Practitioners, General Practice Staff and Allied Health Professionals, working with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community.
Cultural awareness/ cultural safety training was provided to support Practices to meet their PIP IHI requirements “at least 2 staff members from the practice (one must be a GP) must complete appropriate cultural awareness training within 12 months of the practice signing on to the PIP Indigenous Health Incentive”.
Participants gained:
a strong understanding of terminology and themes commonly discussed in cultural competence packages
ability to identify the difference between cultural awareness, cultural sensitivity, cultural safety, cultural competence and cultural responsiveness and undertake these learnings in a health setting.
a stronger understanding around issues that may be faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and deliver the most appropriate level of care within a culturally safe environment.
If you are interested in attending one of these events, please provide your details. This does not confirm you a place on a future workshop.
