The Australian Government has released a winter vaccination information kit specifically for health professionals working with older people. It includes a health professional fact sheet, consumer information, frequently asked questions, posters, appointment-reminder bookmarks and a short video suitable for waiting rooms, communal screens and digital channels.
For influenza, annual vaccination is recommended for adults aged 65 years and over. The Australian Immunisation Handbook also particularly recommends influenza vaccination for residents, staff, volunteers and visitors to aged care and long-term residential facilities.
Providers may wish to use these resources to support conversations with older people and families, promote vaccination opportunities and identify residents or clients who may not yet have received their 2026 influenza vaccine.
