“The Starter Pack” is a free educational package designed to assist general practice managers, practice nurses, Aboriginal Health and Social and Emotional Wellbeing Workers and practice reception staff to build the knowledge, skills and confidence to effectively respond to patients experiencing problematic alcohol and other drug (AOD) use in Queensland.
The package comprises nine brief education activities – an introductory eLearning module and eight live and recorded lunchbox education sessions – designed specifically for primary care practice staff.

The RACGP Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) GP Education Program has been developed to help GPs to support patients experiencing AOD related problems.
Members can access AOD Essential Skills online training, discuss AOD cases with their peers on Thursday evenings, or apply for Treatment Skills or Advanced Skills Training. Treatment Skills and Advanced Skills Training attracts a completion payment, rewarding GPs for upskilling in treatment of AOD. The RACGP has expanded the program to respond to the needs of GPs as a result of COVID-19.

Currently the programs are delivered in an online environment. Face to Face will be available at a point in time when safe to do so.

The ACRRM Drug and Alcohol Addiction Education (DAAE) Program features a suite of incentivised training activities designed to strengthen the capacity of General Practitioners to address drug and alcohol addiction in their communities. Available at no cost to ACRRM members, the DAAE program includes an online learning course, virtual and face-to-face workshops and webinars with subject matter experts, supported by resources for General Practitioners to use within their practice.
