Gold Coast Primary Health Network commissions a range of primary care and mental health, alcohol and other drugs and suicide prevention services to meet the diverse and growing needs of the Gold Coast region. Our commissioned services are available at no cost to patients. View the full list of funded services by clicking on the links below.
After Hours Safe Space is a confidential, low intensity, after-hours mental health service for people experiencing mental health distress. Services are delivered by clinical and lived experience staff at Mermaid Beach (2580 Gold Coast Highway) and Southport (Level 3, Southport Health Precinct building. 16-30 High Street), Mon-Fri 6pm-9pm, Sat and Sun 12pm-8pm.
After Hours Safe Space provides much needed support for adults experiencing distress after hours. A time when their usual supports and clinicians may not be available and when they would usually look to the emergency department for support. This service is provided in a friendly place, with easy access to help in an informal, café style environment. Lived experience workers and clinicians are available so people can feel supported and safe while they manage their mental health during such challenging times and build on their wellbeing skills.
There are two After Hours Safe Space services on the Gold Coast, each available at Mermaid Beach and Southport.

People 16 years and older who require a brief intervention to support de-escalation of their mental health concern and are safe and suitable to attend a community-based support service. This service can be used as a safe alternative to hospital presentations when not in crisis.

Gold Coast PHN funds three local Alcohol and Other Drug Services (AODS) to provide treatment and support for people impacted by alcohol or drugs, including support for people with mental health problems associated with drugs and alcohol use.
Lives Lived Well (Youth, Family and Adult AOD Support) offers short to medium term treatment and support to reduce problematic substance use via access to various programs, including family support and therapy, dual diagnosis and complex care, residential rehabilitation and transitional housing support.
QuIHN (Adult AOD Support) offers treatment and support to reduce problematic substance use and achieve recovery goals. Services include harm reduction, outreach in-home support, group programs, long term case management and counselling.
Kalwun (Social and Emotional Wellbeing Program) offers culturally safe treatment and support to reduce problematic substance use. The program works within a social and emotional wellbeing framework, using a person and family centred approach with the ability to link to a range of internal and external support.

The “Turning Pain into Gain” Persistent Pain Program aims to help persistent pain sufferers become better managers of their pain through the education program, individual case management, support, goal setting and improved use of community health services.
The “Turning Pain into Gain” Persistent Pain Program supports people explore a range of different strategies through education programs, individual case management, peer support, goal setting and improved use of community health services. It offers psychological support to clients experiencing anxiety due to pain and who may need additional mental health support.

The Way Back Support Service (TWBSS) is a low to high intensity non-clinical psychosocial support and transition service for people at risk of suicide and have presented to either Robina Hospital or Gold Coast University Hospital. Referral to this service can only be made by the Gold Coast Health Acute Care Team.
Personalised non-clinical psychosocial support for up to three months after hospital discharge. This service supports people to stay safe, keep connected with others, and access health and community services as part of their recovery.
Suicide Prevention
A Support Facilitator contacts the person within one business day of receiving their referral and tailors a program for up to three months after discharge from hospital which includes building a personalised safety plan and linking them to health and community services and clinical care if needed.
Adults 18 years and older that have presented to or been discharged from either Robina or Gold Coast University Hospital following a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis.
Referrals can only be made via Gold Coast Health Acute Care Team. This service is included here for GP and health professional awareness.

QuIHN alcohol and other drugs (AOD) service has expanded the range of services it provides within the Gold Coast to include the specialist Community Withdrawal Program.
The Community Withdrawal Program aims to provide a comprehensive treatment and support service for people with AOD related problems who would not access or require inpatient withdrawal.
Through our nurse practitioner led community withdrawal program (detox at home) based in Burleigh Heads, we can support individuals to withdraw from a range of substances in the privacy of their own homes. AOD withdrawal in the community setting enables people to withdraw in their local environment with the support of specialist AOD clinical staff, family and support persons.

QuIHN
This moderate intensity program offers comprehensive support for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people aged 0-19 years, who are in a kinship or foster care arrangement and seek support with their social and emotional wellbeing.
Short-term support, group programs, outreach, and case management using an integrated, flexible, and holistic approach to promote social and emotional wellbeing. Provides tailored interventions for mental health and cultural needs, and improve relationships and community connections.

Supporting Minds is a mental health service that provides up to three months of moderate intensity structured psychological (clinical) supports and group-based (clinical and non-clinical) support.
Supporting Minds (Situational Distress) is a service for people aged between 16 and 65 who are facing situational distress such as significant life transitions, relationship issues, social isolation, trauma, experiencing harm from others, experiencing or at risk of homelessness, or in significant financial hardship.

The Gold Coast Community Support Program is a flexible 8-week program that provides non-clinical emotional, practical and coaching support.
